![]() Performing a thorough analysis of the building’s façade prior to design, Rimkus provides a detailed list of findings and recommendations for immediate repairs as well as preventative maintenance to completely address façade functions.Īt Rimkus, we believe that the key to a successful façade restoration project often occurs before the contractor arrives on-site. All three of these components should be analyzed during façade restoration. The façade, while best known for its aesthetic, also provides structural support for a building and vertical weatherproofing for its interior spaces. We are well versed in façade restoration, with a long track record of success on projects varying from low-rise commercial and residential buildings to luxury high-rise towers. The Rimkus Building Envelope team can assist in all phases of façade restoration. Repairs to these elements should be addressed in a manner that will prolong the useful life of the appurtenance as well as the repairs performed. The appurtenances of a façade (balconies, fire escapes, etc.) often deteriorate faster than the façade itself and therefore require particular attention and, often, increased maintenance. ![]() North American cities with façade inspection ordinances include: Our experts are well versed in façade condition assessments and have the experience and knowledge needed to identify repair details as well as oversee the completion of the repairs on behalf of the property owner. ![]() Typically, inspections are required for buildings over five stories, with inspection frequencies ranging from two to five years. Requires prompt remedial action.Ĭonducting Inspections Inspection requirements range from visual inspection of street-facing façades by architects, engineers, or contractors, to "hands-on inspections" that require licensed engineers or architects to physically touch façade components for each elevation of the building along the entire height of each elevation. Unsafe: Has no reliable means of structural support and is dangerous to persons or property.Safe with a Repair and Maintenance Program: Requires repairs or maintenance within a time period designated by the professional in order to prevent deterioration into an unsafe condition.Façade inspections typically fall into one of the following categories: At Rimkus, we provide professional building inspections supported by recommendations and design for proactive maintenance and repair programs. As a response to this, many cities have passed façade ordinances to identify unsafe conditions, such as loose façade components or materials that may fall and cause damage to property or injury to pedestrians. When façade elements fail, components could fall, thereby putting people and property at risk.

In the time since I had the DS-10 in for review, Gold Note has come out with the PSU-10 EVO dedicated power supply that features “dual-choke technology,” and a “Multi cascade design with 4 transformers.” The company claims “Our proprietary technology removes impurity and interference from the AC power system.” Online pricing for the PSU-10 is $1,299 USD. I auditioned ethernet cables at several price points, but the Final Touch Audio Matis, while certainly not an modestly priced option, allowed more low-level signal detail, rhythmic drive and timbral bloom through than anything else I had. ![]() Overall tenor of presentation further relaxed, treble extension opened up and smoothed out while bass and midrange tightened with a noticeable uptick in ultimate resolution of playback. A week later I swapped the stock, no-name AC mains cord for an Audio Note ISIS and was impressed at how much more impact it afforded the output of the DS-10. This dropped the noise floor considerably, improved pitch stability and allowed the DS-10 to breathe easier for lack of a better descriptor. T power conditioner that I use for digital sources only. ![]() I kept the DS-10 up and running pretty much 24/7 the first few weeks after Rutherford Audio shipped it to me, and threw on headphones most nights for an hour-or-so of listening before crashing out. Since the HIFIMAN HE1000SE (30 ohm/96dB) and Audeze LCD-4z (15 ohm/98dB) used for this review are both low impedance designs, yet have relatively high sensitivity, I tried both options and settled on the high-sensitivity option for the HIFIMAN, and the low for the Audeze. ![]() To facilitate handling the differing impedance and dB requirements of headphones, users can specify either low (five-watt output) or high-sensitivity. Initial listening was done without implementing any of the many dozens of grouped filter/equalization options the DS-10 is equipped with, which include low-pass filters, high frequency de-emphasis and variable output voltage. Digging into the onboard hardware options was fairly intuitive and required minimal browsing of the supplied manual (push/rotating the ALPS volume pot navigates the menu system, as does the remote). I plugged in the supplied AC mains cord and ethernet cable to their respective sockets and quickly configured it for playback via Roon through a Nucleus+, with both on a local switch. Setting the DS-10 up in my system was about as easy as adding digital audio gets. The large and comfortable-to-hold plastic remote control continues the gestalt. The plethora of digital I/O on the rear of the unit is neatly grouped and labeled. The fascia is well thought out and uncluttered with a small power-on light, a quarter-inch headphone-output socket (which auto-engages when in use), a volume knob, and an LED screen easy enough to read from several feet away that can also be dimmed or turned off. Fit and finish of the DS-10 is exemplary, with a hand built and substantial heft to the grilled casework. While I’m not one to deny the audible benefits of separates, headamp/DAC/Streamers like the DS-10 reveal that there is less light falling between integrated options in the $3k range and higher-priced separates than previously thought.Ī diminutive, but weighty alloy chassis with an eye-pleasing ratio of width, height and depth, the DS-10 is the perfect visual accessory to its larger stablemate, also in for review, the Gold Note IS-1000 integrated amplifier/DAC/Streamer. And while they speak truth – the higher one climbs to attain audiophile ascension, the more boxes one tends to beget – at what point does the law of diminishing returns come into play? ![]() Purists will rail against such mongrels, citing the clarity and purity of tone, timbral shadings and detail retrieval nascent upon the path of separates: separate head-amp, preamp, DAC, streamer, power supplies, etc. The combined headphone amplifier/preamplifier/DAC/Streamer is a hybrid design and can be susceptible to sonic shortcomings due to the nature of integration. Cues that wouldn’t be missed (IMO) unless revealed in a head-to-head comparison with separates. The Gold Note DS-10 is nothing if not an elegant solution to cramming four boxes (by my count) into one (half-sized) chassis without surrendering much in the way of performance cues. While not someone who embraces new technology for the sake of it, I respect technology which enables companies to implement more elegant solutions without necessarily sacrificing performance. ![]() He's been gaming since the Atari 2600 days and still struggles to comprehend the fact he can play console quality titles on his pocket computer. ![]() Oliver also covers mobile gaming for iMore, with Apple Arcade a particular focus. I just thought I would add a follow up having used 2Do seriously for nearly two weeks, and let me say it was a revelation.įirstly, the checklists feature allows me to massively reduce down the number of lists I needed to keep, e.g. It’s great that developers work on such fantastic things. I am sure the in those softwares everybody can choose between really fine programs. I would have to give this a much too complex tag which is not flexible and takes quite a while to think about it. With only ONE context / tag that is NOT possible. it’s a research collaboration and we’re getting a little chaotic in the process, so I search for the tags “research”, “collaboration”, “XYZ lab” - and immediately get my results that I want. I use persons as tags (team members) so that depending on a specific project, sub-project whatever, I use the tag of “person x” and the tag of sub-project “y” and it gives me specifically only the tasks that this person is currently working on “y”. But now having multiple tags I don’t know how I survived without. While I used OF I tried hard to (be able to!) use only one context and tried to tell myself that that’s okay. Well, maybe not exactly what you need.Īnd again - those softwares are not for everyone. I have not tried that yet (as I don’t need those extended archive options), but you maybe could manage your say monthly SEO reports and completed tasks as separate lists which you archive (separately) then exclude the finished list from syncing (and adding a new list for next month). That’s actually a good point! All I know is that you can archive “lists” (which as you say are projects). So that’s sth I don’t understand why it is so hard to implement?! But you can manually sort in 2Do (which maybe not everybody knows, but the dev should )) and so you just staple the tasks in their logical order and done. I wrote 2Do on Twitter regarding that, because the developer, couple of months ago, said that - say a smart list that’d show only the first item in the list - wouldn’t work very well because that depends than on the sorting. It’s not so much that 2Do doesn’t have it (I got used to it like I got used to OF having only one tag/context) - but grrrr. No solution for the sequential tasks yet - it’s driving me crazy that I can’t find a (nice!) workaround. If you’re interested I can show my solution to “reviews” in 2Do -which is quite nice as you can give them a personal touch and forces you a little more to think what “in a global DB sense” is more or less important. Having a proper way to review the entire thing is fantastic to declutter and act on things that maybe got forgotten or are just not relevant anymore. The URL scheme also provides your UID in verbatim. And yeah, as many people here mentioned before: Another thing that I didn’t think I would actually miss is proper the review feature. It works like a charm in iThoughts or 2Do but should also work in many other apps (try cmd+k in Text Edit for example). It extracts the UID (10 or more consecutive numbers in the file name, step 2) and inserts a URL in the form of thearchive://match/1108160947 (step 3).Ī (for my use case) convenient and fast method to glue notes to other applications that accept URL schemes and jump directly to them when I need to. It uses the saved collection to let you choose a file name (step 1). ![]() ![]() Macro 2: insert URL to note in archiveĪgain, the logic is similar to the macro in the other post. Don't forget to adjust the two file paths to match your archive location. The macro updates the list every time a new file is added to the archive. The benefit is, that you can use the resulting list (saved in the variable zettelkastenFiles) in different macros. In modification to the other post, the "collect part" now gets it's own macro. It searches your archive folder and saves a list of file names for later use. The logic behind this macro is described in the other post. The following two macros provide a system-wide palette to insert URL-linkbacks to TheArchive Macro 1: collect archive files Linking back from tool x to note y can become more complex.įortunately, The Archive provides a URL scheme to insert links that point to your notes (details are described here). I know, you could discuss that matter philosophically, but down on earth I love using (to name a few) iThoughts for brainstorming oder 2Do for task management. Use case: going "software agnostic" almost certainly results in the use of different tools to work with your notes. It is a slight variation of the workflow described in this post. Here is another little tweak for The Archive using Keyboard Maestro. The ‘whiskey,’ as Harris points out, is iced tea. Harris’s tux is cinched tight with large metal clips fastened along his spine, while the glass is chosen from a few options according to which looks best in the light. Remember Bill Murray’s character Harris’s frustration when they were shooting the ridiculous commercial for Suntory whiskey? Everything about the shoot is staged. This is the work and keep in mind the first idea you must revamp things may or may not be a winner, if it is, it may only work for some period of time before you need to adjust again. Your patients and colleagues will thank you, your loved ones will want to be around you, and, more importantly, you’ll be able to withstand being with yourself. We have all felt the pains of “the great resignation.” Acknowledge that energy for everyone is finite and will run out if not preserved, honored, or replenished. Have a quality-of-life discussion with yourself and decide, commit, and declare that you will prioritize your well-being without guilt or judgment. We as a nation have found innovative ways to keep business doors open - the bottom line will work itself out when we take care of the people, and it starts by taking care of ourselves. I get that it can be a challenge or rather an opportunity for teams to step into this way of thinking and operating, but it’s required if you want to protect your essential energy that is finite. Just because someone else’s work-life integration might not look like your ideal scenario, does not mean it does not deserve your respect. Keep in mind as you move forward in this world and sink further into this new state of being yourself, is that it’s critical you support others with their work-life integration. We’ve all had at least 1 experience where on paper- everything looked good but felt awful. Once you identify where you are, and where you want to go, create a roadmap of how you’ll get there, not just in a ‘how does it look way’, but how do you feel sort of way. Letting go is part of the process and a whole topic. Most people can’t even answer the question of what it is that they want, or they are in the habit of complaining and their brains work against them. This work is best accomplished through guided prompts that can walk you through a thought-provoking process, unrusting some of the gears and mechanisms that naturally give you clarity on what you want, why you want it, and how to make it your reality. This is the core of growth and development which leads to clearing out blind spots that are holding you back and keeping you feeling stuck or out of balance. ‘Life-work’ is what I call the regular planning and exploration of your inner environment. Believe me, as someone who is enthusiastic about this, I’ve made significant progress, yet I still must apply what I’ve learned, shift perspectives, and adjust my approach to what’s happening right now in my life or my mind. It will take time, awareness, and dedication to settle into a routine that flows with this moving target. So, when you stray, come back to the practice and tools, without judgment or shame. Getting things done, what I refer to as GTD, is a productivity system I regularly use to organize the ‘10,000 things.’ It’s one of the best ways to manage the best use of your time, create order amongst the chaos of projects, and more.ĭo you know where your attention is frequently being focused on? Do you have an idea of where your personal resources are going? Use a tool, like GetMotiVETed’s life-wheel, to gain perspective on where you are now and what areas of your life, you’d like to experience a change in.Īs I mentioned, you can start this at any time because it’s practice. This is also a multimodal approach blending the tools and tactics that effectively weave your work and personal life together in a way that supports your well-being rather than tearing you down. It changes the inner work that unfolds along the path, revealing new insights you may need to work through. What happens during these different times is a change in your values or priorities which alters the techniques that work for you personally, at that specific time. Work-life integrations come through as moment-to-moment approaches, that string together each of those days or seasons in your life. It’s a practice, both in the practical sense and the internal environment. So, while you generate what your ideal days and weeks look like, you must give yourself grace as this will ebb and flow because it is not a one-and-done achievement. One thing we must recognize as high performers (with a tendency toward perfectionism) is that what you are attempting to achieve is a moving target. In fact, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, a whole new meaning to work-life integration emerged, creating a lot of change in the way professionals think and behave not only as individuals but as a team. Work-life integration has proved elusive for professionals all over the world in all different professions. ![]() Jiffy Cornbread hush puppies are a fun recipe to make for get-togethers.Who knew you could make really good buttermilk pancakes with Jiffy?. ![]() You can take it out of the refrigerator and add it to the oven to bake when you are ready.
